Our Team Takes on The Wild Atlantic Way with Original Irish Hotels
Starting on Monday, 30th September 2024, team members from Original Irish Hotels, along with guests and local suppliers, will begin an 8-day charity cycle. The challenge starts at Casey’s of Baltimore in Cork and finishes on Monday, 7th October at Arnold’s in Dunfanaghy, Donegal. The cyclists will cover more than 800km. This event celebrates the 10-year anniversary of the Wild Atlantic Way and aims to raise €50,000 for the Irish Cancer Society. The funds will support cancer research and patient care.
A Scenic Journey Along the Wild Atlantic Way
During the 800km relay cycle, participants will travel along the scenic and rugged Wild Atlantic Way. Over the 8 days, cyclists will cover around 100km per day, stopping at 24 hotels. These include Randles Hotel in Killarney, Parknasilla Resort and Spa in Sneem, Fitzgerald Woodlands House Hotel in Adare, Lough Inagh Lodge in Connemara, and Mill Park Hotel in Donegal. A mix of hotel owners, staff, guests, suppliers, and local heroes will join the ride. Both experienced and leisure cyclists will take part. Every donation will go directly to the Irish Cancer Society, making this event a valuable contribution to local communities.
Original Irish Hotels and the Irish Cancer Society Partnership
Original Irish Hotels proudly partners with the Irish Cancer Society for this challenge. These hotels are closely connected to their communities and understand the important role the Irish Cancer Society plays. The charity supports cancer patients, funds cancer research, and provides care across Ireland. Through this partnership, Original Irish Hotels aim to raise awareness and much-needed funds to support cancer research and care throughout the country.
Fitzgeralds Woodlands House Hotel Takes Part
Members of Fitzgeralds Woodlands House Hotel, including General Manager David Fitzgerald, will take part in several stages of the 800km charity cycle. David and his team are proud to represent the hotel and show their commitment to the community. This event is especially meaningful as it celebrates the 10-year anniversary of the Wild Atlantic Way and supports the Irish Cancer Society.
Leading the Way in Supporting Local Initiatives
As both a leader and a cyclist, David Fitzgerald is eager to participate. His involvement highlights the hotel’s dedication to supporting local causes and cancer research. The entire team is excited to contribute their time and energy. Their participation shows Fitzgeralds Woodlands House Hotel’s commitment to making a positive difference. By riding with community members, guests, and suppliers, the team hopes to raise significant funds for cancer support services. This event also showcases the power of local businesses working together for a shared cause.
Spinathon at Woodlands Leisure Club
To complement the charity cycle, the Woodlands Leisure Club will host a spinathon during the event. Leisure club members are invited to join by riding the spin bike. The goal is to reach a total of 800km, matching the distance of the Wild Atlantic Way cycle challenge. Members can ride as long as they want, and together we will reach the target. This is a fun way to get involved, stay fit, and support the Irish Cancer Society. Both cyclists on the road and members in the gym will contribute to the same great cause.
